This is an acquired piece [and I might add, an acquired taste!] from Peru!  A large male bird eating tarantula the size of your hand! Tarantula's like this have been observed eating baby birds right out of their nest. They have a defensive maneuver where they can rub of the hairs on their abdomen with their back legs [called flicking] and cause a would be predator to run away with hundreds of hairs stuck in their eyes, face, and mouth. Each hair is shaped like a tiny harpoon which lodges and irritates their attacker. The effect is just like a miniature porcupine!  Local people in the Amazon reportedly roast them, burning off the hairs, and then eat them! Said to taste like.....shrimp! Yum!!!!
